Many of the symbolic Great Depression Era songs were done by multiple artists and you can also hear many on YouTube dot com.

A few such symbolic songs come to mind:

  1. "Brother Can You Spare A Dime" Crosby and Jolson performed it, among others.

  2. "We're In The Money". From the Busby
    Berkeley's "Golddiggers Of 1933".

  3. "Happy Days Are Here Again". performed by many groups. Try YouTube dot com.

Also, any Woody Guthrie stuff of the era. There are probably upwards of twenty popular songs to symbolize the Great Depression Era. From folk to blues; dance to jazz; swing, hotel/society bands of the early/mid 30's to big bands coming in the late 30's. Some songs overly cheerful, others probalby more accurately pessimistic.
